Spectral Flux: Vermilion Stratum is a layered wall artwork built through depth rather than surface, composed of four stacked layers of MDF that create a genuinely three-dimensional composition. Three of the layers are precision-carved with organic apertures and aligned on top of one another, forming a shifting internal landscape where light and shadow move through the piece depending on the angle and intensity of illumination, while a fourth solid layer forms the back plane that anchors the whole composition. Finished in warm orange and red tones, the work carries a sense of contained heat and internal motion, as though the layered apertures were channels for something glowing beneath the surface. As part of the Spectral Flux Collection, a series explored through multiple chromatic interpretations, Vermilion Stratum represents the warmest end of that exploration, translating the same layered construction technique into a palette built around ember-like oranges and reds.
