Spectral Flux: Cobalt Resonance is a layered wall artwork built through depth rather than surface, composed of four stacked layers of MDF that create a genuinely three-dimensional composition glowing from within. Three of the layers are precision-carved with apertures and aligned in sequence, each paired with its own integrated LED tier, while a fourth solid layer forms the back plane that anchors the whole structure. Light accumulates as it passes through the depths of the piece, building chromatic intensity from layer to layer: cobalt blue at the surface, electric blue in the middle register, and violet at the foundation, so the work emits color from within its structure rather than having color applied to its surface. As part of the Spectral Flux Collection, a series exploring form through color, depth, and light, Cobalt Resonance represents the cooler end of that exploration, translating the same layered construction technique into a palette built around saturated blues and violets. Its medium scale and dimensional construction make it a strong fit for living rooms, studies, or hallways where a piece with genuine depth, texture, and internal glow is wanted, with the forms shifting subtly with movement and ambient light, emphasizing emission over surface in a way flat artwork cannot replicate.
Each Cobalt Resonance panel is constructed from four layers of MDF, with three of the layers precision-cut to create apertures that, when stacked and aligned, form a layered internal landscape across the face of the piece, each carved layer paired with its own integrated LED tier. The fourth and final layer is left solid, forming a back plane that supports the carved, illuminated layers above it and gives the piece its overall structural depth. The three LED tiers are calibrated to produce the work's signature color progression, with cobalt blue at the surface layer, electric blue in the middle, and violet at the foundation, so that light accumulates and shifts in intensity as it travels through the depths of the construction. This layered lighting approach gives Cobalt Resonance a sense of internal motion, with the forms appearing to shift subtly depending on the viewer's position and the ambient light in the room. Power is supplied through a standard 120V connection suitable for USA outlets, with the integrated LED tiers wired discreetly into the construction. Mounting hardware is included, and the piece is designed to hang flat against the wall while presenting its layered, dimensional, and illuminated face to the room, measuring 28.7 by 43.3 inches across its surface.
Caring for Spectral Flux: Cobalt Resonance is simple: the layered MDF surface can be dusted with a soft, dry cloth, and because the construction is sealed and finished, it resists the buildup of dust and grime over time. The integrated LED tiers are designed for long-term operation and do not require bulb changes, so once the piece is hung and connected to power, it can be switched on each evening without additional maintenance. Because of its cobalt, electric blue, and violet palette and its cool, glowing quality, Cobalt Resonance feels especially fitting during the cooler winter months, when its saturated blue tones can echo the season's own cool light and add a sense of depth to a room, though its layered, dimensional construction makes it an engaging piece to display throughout the year. As part of the Spectral Flux Collection, it can be displayed on its own as a cool focal point or paired with other chromatic interpretations from the same series for a coordinated gallery wall. Whether lit or unlit, the layered MDF construction gives Cobalt Resonance a sense of depth and motion that flat artwork can't replicate, offering a piece that rewards both quick glances and closer inspection while requiring very little upkeep to maintain its layered, glowing finish.
