The Solito Lamp pares lighting down to two elements: a sculptural ceramic body and a single glowing sphere. The body takes the form of a soft, rounded U -- two curved arms rising from a shared base, almost like a pair of hands cupped loosely together. Resting within that curve, or rising from one end of it depending on orientation, is a sphere of light, its glow set against the matte ceramic surface in quiet contrast. There is no shade, no visible cord running across the form, nothing extraneous to the central relationship between the curved mass of the ceramic and the small point of light it holds. The proportions are deliberately compact -- at under eight inches wide, Solito is sized for a nightstand, a shelf, or a desk rather than a floor or large table -- but the sculptural quality of the U-shape gives it a presence that belies its size. The ceramic finish is smooth and matte, absorbing light rather than reflecting it, which keeps all visual attention on the glowing sphere itself.
